Scope and Contents This Collection contains newspaper clippings about the Bagley Wreck of 1944. The Bagley Wreck was said to be the nation’s worst rail disaster of 1944, by the newspapers of the time. The wreck took place at Bagley, a spot near Promontory Point on the shore of the Great Salt Lake, and claimed the lives of 50 people riding a Southern Pacific train, including servicemen and civilians.
